1. What is the difference between Montessori and traditional education?

In traditional education, children are moved through a series of activities according to schedule and content that has been predetermined by the teachers. The children are taught in a structured environment. The teacher delivers curriculum from textbooks, with an outline of the lesson to be taught that day. The outcome of student learning relies heavily on assessments, or tests.

In Montessori, the classroom environment consists of attractive manipulative, educational toys that involve children in academic learning. The children learn through manipulating their environment. They learn through all five senses. They work at their own level or pace.
